Hi, I’m benny.
It can often feel daunting to face life and all of its wonderous curveballs. Sometimes the hardest, most difficult decision we make is to ask for help. Sharing your story is honor and a privilege. Each story has a unique perspective and deserves to be told through the words of the person that has experienced it. Whatever may be motivating you right now to seek help, I’m here.
Our relationship will not be clinical. It will be organic, honest, raw, direct, nurturing, motivating, and purposeful. I will meet you where you are, literally and metaphorically. I look forward to hearing your story.
My Approach
My approach begins with a collection of my education, work, and life experience. I have a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from St. Edwards University. My education focused primarily on couples and family work. After graduating, I’ve continued working in the Mental Health field working directly with children, adolescents, and families. I work from a collaborative framework that is rooted in systemic thinking, curiosity, openness, and humility.
Systemic
Systemic simply means that there are multiple factors that contribute to the success or non-success of our relationships and that these factors are interrelated and all connected even if it may not be obvious.
Inclusive
This word is often weighted. When I use the word inclusive I mean it in its formal definition. All value systems, political beliefs, religious or non-religious beliefs, cultural backgrounds and philosophies are met with respect. There is no judgement toward who are you as a person and what you believed yesterday, today, or tomorrow.
Curious
I firmly believe that you are the subject matter expert to your life. I only know what is shared with me. It is important for us to remain curious about others perspectives to work through each step toward reaching your goals.
openness
Our work will have a foundation of mutual respect. I am a teacher and so are you. I will invite you to consider different perspectives, be open to challenging, and approach our sessions open to sharing and I will do the same.
